Histology on CD-ROM: Color Images of Cells, Tissues, and Organs by John K. Young, PhD, Raziel S. Hakim, PhD, and Kate M. Baldwin, PhD Department of Anatomy, Howard University, Washington, DC Released 1999 This CD-ROM presents 180 color images of light microscopy of all the cell types, tissue types, and organ systems of the body. Most of these high-quality images are photographs of tissues embedded in methacrylate resin and cut at a thickness of one micron, allowing a sharpness of detail and clarity not available with specimens traditionally embedded in paraffin and cut at a greater thickness. Sections are stained with toluidine blue and basic fuchsin to match the colors seen with hematoxylin and eosin staining. Also, selected images are done using special staining techniques such as immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization. Cells and structures on each image are labeled with the letters A, B, C, D, or E, noting the specifics within the image. Black and white or color printouts of the images can also be made for student exams, or images can be projected using a video projector. Students can self-test by reviewing the 170 structure identification questions. A Glossary is available. A FREE PREVIEW IS AVAILABLE Please contact Tony Penta at tony.penta@edtsi.com for more information, to request a preview or to place an order. 1 CD-ROM, 990-CD-001 PRICE
