Health Information Numbering and Filing Systems by Carly Tyson, PhD. & Shirlyn Thomas Houston Community College System, Houston, Texas Released 2005 This CD-ROM program was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of health care facility personnel in the areas of filing methods and filing systems. The program is divided into two sections, Numbering and Filing. The Numbering section demonstrates several numbering systems, including serial numbering, serial-unit numbering, unit numbering, and a section for converting other numbering systems to unit numbering. The Filing section demonstrates how to file medical records by straight numeric order, middle digit order, terminal digit order, and how to convert straight numeric order to middle digit or terminal digit order. Each section of the program provides practice sessions that allow the user to apply the principles taught in each section. This program is now Web-Ready for use in Distance Learning. Health Information Numbering and Filing Systems was originally released in 1996. It has been updated and now re-released ready for the Web.
